Bull - Braintree
Blackmore End
Braintree, Essex CM74DD
United Kingdom
The Bull at Blackmore End has been lovingly restored to something far beyond its former glory, and this stunning country pub is now home to an impressive 60 seat restaurant and a welcoming bar area, all set amongst picturesque views of the Essex countryside. The Bull at Blackmore End is a beautiful grade II listed building which dates back to the fifteenth century. Historic records show that drinks have been served there since 1851, when Thomas Smee became the first man licensed to sell alcoholic drinks from the premises. Since that time the Bull at Blackmore End has passed through many hands, with each developing the pub’s fabulous reputation and ensuring it remains an integral part of the small Essex village of Blackmore End. Having been closed since 2010, a long campaign from the local community saw The Bull at Blackmore End being brought to life once again. It has undergone an extensive renovation programme, and the dramatic transformation of the building both inside and out must be seen to be believed. Every effort has been made to restore the charm and character of this traditional country pub, whilst also ensuring that it is both elegant and inviting to customers old and new. The Bull at Blackmore End is now a truly stunning backdrop for people to dine on quality, traditional pub food, or to simply enjoy a drink with friends. With all our ingredients locally sourced and every single meal cooked from scratch by our highly qualified chef, we know our customers won’t be disappointed. We had a dream to create a family orientated, country pub with a difference. We wanted to offer reasonably priced, traditional meals with a gastro edge; meaning mouth-watering, generous portions of the food we all love to eat. We wanted every element of the pub, from the glasses to the cutlery, to be superior. We wanted to create a pub and restaurant which once again became an integral part of the local community, and with an atmosphere which means that everyone feels welcome.

Hobgoblin - Brighton
31 York Place
Brighton, East-Sussex BN1 4GU
United Kingdom
The new Hobgoblin has certainly not lost it's alternative roots and still caters for Brighton's diverse and music loving crowd who like their nights out a little left of mainstream. Arty, tatty, folksy and refreshingly credible, The Hobgoblin swallows neat and polished, chews them up and spits out something insouciant, real and honest. The Hobgoblin is homey and unpretentious, with lots of wood, brickwork and paisley, plenty of paintings, an abundance of revelry and the Thai street food served seven days a week is an absolute winner! However, the real gem here is outside; to claim 'the best beer garden in Brighton' may be seem a bit far fetched but we can assure you it's completely true. The vibe is relaxed and and the people are ace, the music is good and the drinks are even better. And you won't find many pubs with a pinball game for a table - even in Brighton!

Add pub quizzes, a garden and a very child friendly atmosphere into the mix, The Hanover is a wonderfully spacious pub perfect for family roasts, pizzas and beers with a group of mates or just a pint with the newspaper. With stripped, polished floorboards, leather armchairs and oversized tables there's more than a touch of rustic farmhouse kitchen to this great pub and it's clearly all about bringing together kindred spirits for days and nights of drink, fun and chatter. The Hanover is the home of locally brewed ales. Every pump on the bar dispenses a beer from a Sussex brewer, and the choice changes with the seasons.
