The unique concept began in late 2008 as an amalgamation between Jamie Lawson, director of Ossett Brewery, Mike Heaton drummer from Yorkshire Indie band Embrace and ex-Virgin Japan MD Mike Inman. With over 13 years brewing experience and over 35 years knowledge of the music industry, The Hop concept was born; The Hop Wakefield in 2009, The Hop Leeds in 2010, The Hop Sheffield in 2011 and The Hop York new to 2013. The third Hop venue to hit Yorkshire is situated at the gateway to the West One Plaza opposite the famous Devonshire Green. Our flagship venue sits alongside the stylish Revolution Bar, Antibos, The Rib Shack, and Las Iguanas restaurants. I've been asked many times what gave you the idea for MOJO and have always resisted an explanation mainly because it was the result of many things not just one idea alone. Keith Richards once said that he didn't think rock 'n' roll should be analysed or even thought about deeply just in case you lose the indefinable element that makes it so special. I wanted a room that would ripen with age like an old pub. I wanted something different to interest you everywhere you looked which is why MOJO has definable sections like the portrait wall. I wanted it to be clean but dirty at the same time like some long forgotten blues riff. I wanted it to be intimate and the bar never more than a couple of paces away and I wanted the best drinks and of course my music. I really like music - I mean I really like it and I knew there were people out there with similar taste I just hadn't found them yet and it was definitely a case of 'build it and they will come'. Sometimes you don't realise you needed something until it comes along. But MOJO isn't a jukebox it's a bar and unfortunately I am a terrible bartender - truly bad, so thank god I had Mal around to take care of things. He is not only a great bartender but also a genius with drink recipes and knowing precisely what something should taste like and look like. Set in the heart of the fashionable SA1 development in Swansea, Caffe Americano offers a unique experience for Swansea's elite. Tapas, cocktails, and live music - what more could you need? Soft lighting, black and white jazz piano and fashionable wall decor combined with wooden floors, create a sophisticated intermit atmosphere, where live music can be enjoyed and appreciated to it's fullest. A traditional European styled Caffé Bar was in the making on Swansea’s former docklands, the now fashionable SA1. Reclaimed bricks were collected from Liverpool Docks, an old grand piano collected from Mid Wales, dozens of traditional Oxblood Chesterfield sofas were sourced from all over the country; London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol. Old instruments were sought with pleas to all friends and family for traditional brick-a-brack. Feature brick walls were built, the original steel girders in the ceiling exposed, the grand piano overhauled and hung from the ceiling. The venue, is filled with the chesterfield sofas and bistro tables to create a warm and inviting establishment. To complete the bar is an exclusive coffee machine, hand built in Milan - The Elektra - known as the 'Ferrari of Coffee Machines' - the only one of its kind in Wales.
