The Barrow House is a pub in idyllic Egerton, a village known for its thriving community spirit as much as its magnificent views across the Weald of Kent, picturesque cottages and local history. Previously known as The George, the inn was originally built in 1576 using timbers from sailing ships and traditional cob and straw plaster, which remain behind the 17th century timber frame, weatherboards and Kent peg tiles. The Barrow House prides itself on its food and whether you fancy a quick snack, a light lunch or dinner with friends and family, there's something for everyone on the menu. To wash it all down there are local beers, cask ales and a wide selection of wines by the glass. Upstairs there are three beautiful bedrooms, all with luxurious en suite bathrooms and enormous beds to ensure the most comfortable overnight stay or relaxing weekend getaway. Each room has a distinct personality, but they share in common space and light with large windows looking onto the village and valley.

We hire our professional theatre and conference facilities to community organisations, performing groups, local societies, dance and drama schools, businesses and education providers from across the North West. We also work with Agents, Artists and touring companies to provide a wide range of entertainment and events of all genres which appeal to local audiences. We provide affordable auditorium and technical facilities and affordable solutions to ticket sales, marketing and publicity, and sound and lighting services. Because we are run Totaly by volunteers both professionals and amateurs enjoy working our venue because of the intimacy of the space. We are also unrivalled in the friendliness, passion and personal service provided by our committed team. Our volunteer Board of Directors meet regularly and are supported by a large number of theatre volunteers who help run nearly all aspects of the theatre, from the box office, ushering, operating the bar, cleaning and a whole host of technical and support functions. We are grateful to our volunteers who keep the theatre running for the benefit of the local community.
