Buskers - Eastbourne
170 Seaside
Eastbourne, East-Sussex BN22 7QR
United Kingdom
Tucked away amongst the vast array of takeaway restaurants that line Seaside Road, there’s a new and exciting music venue fast making a name for itself as the place for live music in Eastbourne. Presenting live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, Buskers showcases the best music acts from in and around Eastbourne, be them an up and coming talent or musicians with years of experience. Securing the top signed and unsigned acts from the surrounding area, Buskers is the only place to catch the latest musicians breaking onto the music scene in the South East and beyond. Formally known as The White Hart and more recently, Mullen’s Pub, Buskers Bar opened it’s doors in September 2011. A new, young management team breathed a fresh lease of life into what had become a run-down and regularly forgotten drinking spot in Eastbourne. With a vast selection of drinks on offer including ales from the local area and different promotions available each weekend. A pool table that plays host to a weekly competition every Wednesday, free wifi, hot bar snacks and an open mic for anyone who feels that have something to offer, Buskers Bar offers a new and unique pub experience to those fed up with the monotony of Eastbourne’s dated pub scene. A refreshingly chilled party atmosphere, teamed with friendly bar staff, great music and a late night licence… this isn’t your average pub. Buskers motto, “the avoidance of sameness,” perfectly encapsulates the vibe of the venue, where no two nights are ever the same. Hosting the busiest karaoke night in town with the formidable compere and mash-up maestro, Johnny Fridge, Thursdays are or those brave enough to take to the stage under the Busker’s lights and really show off. Sunday’s are a time to wind down, with acoustic sessions running in the evening and an open mic for any budding musicians wanting their turn in the spotlight. Landlord Jack Visick may be young at 24 but, having lived in Eastbourne most of his life and with e

Kitty O'Hanlon's - Plymouth
5 St Andrews Street
Plymouth, Devon PL1 2AH
United Kingdom
Known as Kitty O’Hanlons since 1994, this was the first ‘Irish’ pub in Plymouth and the best. Open Mic Thursdays and Live Music Friday and Saturday Nights. Standing on the oldest known inn site in Plymouth, the Abbey was built here, in St. Andrew’s Street, following the demolition of the mediaeval Turk’s Head in 1861. St. Andrew’s Street itself of course is one of the oldest thoroughfares in the city although since 1979 its line has been interrupted by Plymouth Magistrates’ Court. Until the 1930s an ancient terrace of buildings known as Abbey Place ran from the corner of St. Andrew Street, opposite this pub, across to the top of Finewell Street and the Prysten House. Curiously enough it is this building – the Prysten House – which indirectly gives its name both to Abbey Place and the Abbey Hotel. Long thought, albeit mistakenly, to have been a place with ecclesiastical connections, the house, built by Thomas Yogge in the fifteenth century, was being referred to as the Old Abbey at least 250 years ago. The picture of an old Abbey ruins on the inn sign is no more than an attractive piece of fiction.

Chindit Inn - Wolverhampton
113 Merridale Road
Wolverhampton, West-Midlands WV3 9SE
United Kingdom
The Chindit opened in 1958 and as far as we know is the only pub called so. It was named by the first Landlord who served with the British Army Regiment ‘the Chindits’. The pub was originally a Butlers off-licence, but because of new housing in the area a licence was applied for, and the building altered to create a bar, smoke room and children’s room (closed). The tree in the car park at the rear has gone but the stump still remains! We are a friendly corner ale house with a variety of superbly kept hand pulled beers. Wye Valley Hereford Pale Ale and Enville Ale are the regulars along with three very fine guests. Our popular Friday night music is a long standing event with live bands and an open mic on the last Friday of the month. Why not drop in and try one or two of our fantastic beers, we look forward to seeing you soon. Opening Times: Monday to Friday 4pm - 11pm. Saturday and Sunday Noon - 11pm. Famous Grapes - Liverpool
25 Mathew Street
Liverpool, Merseyside L2 6RE
United Kingdom
During the evenings we offer good entertainment, 7 days a week, with many varied artistes performing until 4 a.m.on most days. Probably the most famous pub on the planet, primarily due to the fact that the Beatles used to down a pint or two here between their gigs at the Cavern. In those days the Cavern was an alcohol free venue and you could only be served with the soft drink of your choice. In those early days there was only one traditional pub on Mathew Street and that was the Grapes. The White Star was the next closest pub being located just around the corner in Rainford Gardens. Of course the only club on Mathew Street, at that time, was the Cavern. On many occasions the queue from the Cavern would stretch to the Grapes, no matter what weather conditions prevailed. Needless to say, the Grapes, being the only pub, was always crowded until closing time around 10 o'clock. Nowadays the Grapes has become a quasi shrine to the Beatles, not unlike the Cavern. The snug backroom of the Grapes is filled with memorabilia, photographs and the like. There is one particular photograph of the Beatles that was taken of them while they sipped a beer at the Grapes. The photograph is prominently displayed and shows the "four lads" sitting on a bench which still exists in the same location from the early days. Even the wallpaper shown in the picture remains preserved on the wall above where the Beatles once sat and is covered with a protective glass. The photograph is accompanied by a small plaque on the wall, above the fireplace, describing the event. Of course you can still sit on the same seats that the Beatles sat on and take a break, with a well prepared meal and glass of your favourite wine or beer.
