Bexley Jazz Club continues to host a weekly platform for the very Best of Jazz Musicians, as it has done with such success since 1992. Great jazz - played to a knowledgeable yet warm and friendly audience - results in superb entertainment for musicians and jazz lovers alike. Entertainment; that is the keyword at Bexley. With this ethos Bexley Jazz Club will continue to thrive and prosper to the mutual benefit of Musicians and Members. The Kings Head is an ancient Inn dating from the 14th century and stepping inside this listed building is like going back in time - with its large open fireplace and copper pots and jugs hanging from old, blackened ceiling beams. A good selection of real ales, a friendly atmosphere and great jazz make The Kings Head at Bexley a very special venue. There is car parking and also a municipal car park behind the pub.

606 Club - Chelsea

90 Lots Road
South-West, London SW10 0QD
United Kingdom

The Club currently employs 2 bands a night Tuesday to Wednesday and one Band Thursday to Monday, a total of 10 bands a week (plus occasional Sunday lunches), which makes us the biggest employer of British based Jazz (and related Music) artists in the country. With live jazz seven nights a week and Sundays being our special ‘singers’ night every night can be the best night. Fridays and Saturdays it is essential to book in advance. The policy of the Club can be summarised as the desire to present the best British based Jazz available in the most relaxed surroundings possible with the best food we are able to produce, at an affordable price. Our music policy is based around the rich and varied UK Live music scene and as such we rarely employ visiting artists. It is important to stress however that musicians do not have to be British to work at the Club, in my own band the pianist is Italian and singer Brazilian but they are both UK residents. Due to our licensing restrictions we are only allowed to serve alcohol to non-members with a substantial meal. During the week (Monday-Thursday) we are quite happy for non-members to come down for soft drinks as long as we are able to get them in, but we are so busy at the weekends that you can only gain entrance as a non-member if you are coming in for dinner. The Club has an interesting, imaginative menu created by our head chef Jean Pierre. All dishes are freshly prepared with fish dishes being his speciality. Welsh rack of Lamb and Steak are also served as well as a good selection of vegetarian dishes, a chicken special and pasta dish of the day. We have an extensive international wine and beer menu. We have a Music Charge (which goes straight to the band) In order to obtain membership you need to pick up one of our "Membership Information" sheets when you visit the Club (please note these can only be obtained from the Club premises themselves, they cannot be posted or e-mailed).

Don't take our word (and theirs) for it - why not come and see for yourselves. I really hope that you can join us. Best Wishes, Lesley

Famous Grapes - Liverpool

25 Mathew Street
Liverpool, Merseyside L2 6RE
United Kingdom

During the evenings we offer good entertainment, 7 days a week, with many varied artistes performing until 4 a.m.on most days. Probably the most famous pub on the planet, primarily due to the fact that the Beatles used to down a pint or two here between their gigs at the Cavern. In those days the Cavern was an alcohol free venue and you could only be served with the soft drink of your choice. In those early days there was only one traditional pub on Mathew Street and that was the Grapes. The White Star was the next closest pub being located just around the corner in Rainford Gardens. Of course the only club on Mathew Street, at that time, was the Cavern. On many occasions the queue from the Cavern would stretch to the Grapes, no matter what weather conditions prevailed. Needless to say, the Grapes, being the only pub, was always crowded until closing time around 10 o'clock. Nowadays the Grapes has become a quasi shrine to the Beatles, not unlike the Cavern. The snug backroom of the Grapes is filled with memorabilia, photographs and the like. There is one particular photograph of the Beatles that was taken of them while they sipped a beer at the Grapes. The photograph is prominently displayed and shows the "four lads" sitting on a bench which still exists in the same location from the early days. Even the wallpaper shown in the picture remains preserved on the wall above where the Beatles once sat and is covered with a protective glass. The photograph is accompanied by a small plaque on the wall, above the fireplace, describing the event. Of course you can still sit on the same seats that the Beatles sat on and take a break, with a well prepared meal and glass of your favourite wine or beer.
