The Crown & Cushion sits in the centre of the lovely Market Town of Appleby. The town attracts many visitors to take the trains along the famous Settle railway lane. Appleby Castle and some quirky shops and cafes add to the charm. Appleby is famous for the annual travellers fair which boosts the population from five thousand or so to forty thousand, spread over a week. The atmosphere during the fair is vibrant and lively and well worth a visit. The Cushion as it known to the locals offers a traditional bar with a separate pool and games area and has a wide selection of cask ales, lagers and keg beers. There is a separate dining room which caters for larger groups and functions. The pub has three comfortable ensuite letting rooms.
