Crockerton Lloyds No1 Bar - Cardiff

Until the late 19th century, the area around this pub had been known for centuries as Crockerton or Crockherbtown.
Crockherbtown Lane, running parallel with Queen Street, is Cardiff's busiest shopping area. Until 1887, Queen Street was called Crockerton Street, after the district here known in the Middle Ages as Crockerton and later as Crockherbtown. It is likely that it got its unusual name from the pot, or crock, herbs cultivated by the monks of Greyfriars. Today, the narrow Crockherbtown Lane is almost the only reminder of this ancient area of Cardiff.
